This past Saturday at Arlington inside the Cowboys Stadium Justin put in a very solid ride to finish fifth in the main. A fifth place marks his best finish so far this year as this season has been considered one of the toughest and it seems every rider has elevated their speed a bunch. He currently sits eighth in points. Last year Justin finished fourth in Supercross and seventh in Outdoors.

The 250SX East season fired up last Saturday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas and Blake finished second. His qualifying times were solid but his heat race didn’t go well and he was forced to race the LCQ. Fortunately he qualified and rode a smart race to place himself second in points as the series heads to Atlanta, Georgia. Last year, Blake finished third in the East Coast series and seventh in the Outdoors.

Yates, a former Superbike factory rider and nine-time AMA Superbike race winner, has been mostly out of professional superbike racing since he sustained a serious leg injury back in 2010 at Fontana. Last year Matt started with the Team BTO Sports (AKA Butler Bros. Racing) as a fill-in rider on Suzuki’s. He was the top rider in the Canadian Outdoor Motocross Series at the time and had to make a decision when the opportunity came whether he would stay in Canada to defend his title or sign as a full time rider for BTO. He opted to ride in the U.S. and his decision seems to be the right one. He’s had a fantastic year and sits tenth in points after his seventh place finish this past Saturday in Oakland. This is year ten for Team BTO Sports and they now have Factory KTM support.

Kelly Smith is a three-time, 4-Stroke National Champion and an AMA National Outdoor winner. The next few years he struggled in the U.S. with injuries, he later decided to take an opportunity to race the G.P.’s in Europe. He won a Grand Prix and had much success across the pond including winning the British Motocross Championship. Last year he came back to the U.S. to race four Supercross events on the West Coast before returning to Europe and left with two podiums and all top ten finishes. Now he’s signed with GEICO Honda to race both Supercross and Outdoors for two years.

They are reintroducing the Duke 690 for 2013 and adding the new 990 ADV Baja. Later this year U.S. riders should be seeing the new 1190 Adventure bike. KTM is known for pushing limits as well as introducing bikes the market wants like the KTM 350 four-stroke offroad motorcycle.

KTM recently announced the addition of Taylor Knapp to their AMA Pro Road Racing efforts. Knapp will be joining teammate Chris Fillmore for the 2013 season racing the KTM 1190 RC8 R. Knapp raced 14 rounds of the 2012 AMA Pro season in the superbike class and finished 14th overall recording 8 top ten finishes and one top five. In 2011 he raced for the Vesrah Suzuki team and finished 8th in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class and 24th in the AMA Pro Superbike class (only raced in select SuperBike races).

Gavin Faith, 250 Supercross East – MotoConcepts Racing
For the past few years Gavin has lived at the Millsap’s Training Facility to prepare himself for the Pro Motocross ranks. Last year he was selected to race on the GEICO Honda team as a fill in rider on the West Coast. He also raced on the JGRMX team on a 450 in four rounds.
This fall he raced the Australian Supercross series in the 250 class for the second year and won the championship. Now he’s testing with MotoConcepts and is scheduled to race the East Coast Supercross series for them.

Shorty had a tough Outdoor season but still managed to soldier through with amazing results. He battled some health issues including a staph infection that would sideline most athletes. He never gave up and finished in fourth, just one point behind third place in the series. He took a long break after the last National to get some much needed recovery and now he’s back on the bike getting ready for Anaheim 1 in January. Andrew recently celebrated his 30th birthday.

The Almosta Race is an annual race held in NW Arkansas on New Year’s Day. The event has evolved from a group of friends who gathered to have a ‘friendly’ race to an event that supports Rider Down Foundation with all of the proceeds from the event. The event is regional with most riders being from Arkansas & Oklahoma. Last year there was a huge presence for the first time from Missouri, but there are also riders from Minnesota, Illinois, Texas, and even as far away as California. Upcoming is the 12th Annual Almosta Race to be held on Jan 1, 2013.

This will be Phil’s rookie year on the 450 in Supercross in 2013. He’s 23 years old from Bethel, New York. Previously he’s scored numerous top five finishes in the 250 Supercross class and he finished the Lucas Oil Outdoor Motocross season last year on a 450 with a couple top ten results. Last year at the end of the season he was doing it as a full privateer effort. Now he’s signed with the N-Fab/ TiLUBE/ Yamaha team with Allan Brown as team manager and support from Yamaha.
